Question
Am I accountable for involuntarily breathing in the secondhand marijuana smoke of those around me after trying my best to avoid it and disliking it in my heart?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
If you tried your best to avoid breathing in the smoke and were unable to avoid it and at the same time disliked it in your heart – you are not accountable for such a sin.
The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Allah has overlooked for my nation the actions of those who forget, make mistakes, or are coerced into something.” [Ibn Maja]
