Films with Religious Content

Question: Is it permissible to make films with religious content?

Answer:

Wa alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Dear questioner,

Thank you for your important question.

Generally speaking, it is permissible to make films with religious content. The caveat being that no sexual images are used and that the benefit of the content outweighs any sinful actions (murder, lying, etc.) that are portrayed.

There is also the issue of music. Please see: https://seekers.flywheelstaging.com/answers/general-counsel/listening-to-islamic-songs-with-musical-instruments/?fbclid=IwAR1AZyfPLPsObjvXXL0DsjZ0KGMMBCRwA0jjDVGUDQglPnU4YLO_tG3oCoY

There should also be no images of the prophets (upon whom be peace) or the Companions (Allah be pleased with them all). Please see:

I pray this helps.
