I Perform the Five Pillars. Will I Be Considered a Disbeliever (Kafir) if I Commit Major Sins Often?
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
If I do whatever I want and sin but still pray my five daily prayers and 12 sunnas and fast and do the five pillars of Islam, will I be a kafir? Even If I do the major, major sins like zina, sodomy, etc..
All I care about is whether I’m going to be a kafir or not, so will I? Like, I listen to music, don’t cover awra, zina, sodomy, parties, legit just do whatever but still hold on to the five pillars of Islam like fasting, prayer, etc. Kufr won’t come into effect on me, right? What if I don’t do the sunnas, just the five fard prayers?
Please go on a deep dive, research it thoroughly, and give me a thorough answer. I need to learn about all the Madhab school stuff because there is only one proper ruling, and if everyone disagrees, only one is correct.
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question. Thank you for your valuable question and for seeking direction.
I would like to commend you for seeking guidance. Every Muslim has to believe that Allah Most High will deal with everyone justly, and if He forgives, it will be His grace. You are performing many good actions, especially the five pillars of Islam. So as long as you do not belittle any of the sins you end up committing, you will not be considered a disbeliever (kafir). Allah protect us from this.
None Enters Paradise but by Allah’s Mercy
Aisha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Follow the right course, be devoted, and give glad tidings. Verily, none of you will enter Paradise by his deeds alone.” They said, “Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Not even myself, unless Allah grants me His mercy. Know that the most beloved deed to Allah is done regularly, even if it is small.” [Bukhari; Muslim]
Whoever Has Faith Will Eventually Enter Paradise
Abu Dharr (Allah be pleased with him)reported that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Jibra’il (peace be upon him) came to me to give the good news that anyone from my nation who dies without associating partners with Allah will eventually enter Paradise.” I said, “Even if he commits adultery and theft?” The Prophet said, “Even if he commits adultery and theft.” [Bukhari; Muslim]
Will I Be Allowed Homosexuality in Paradise?
If one believes strongly that one will be allowed homosexuality in Paradise, then it can lead to disbelief. No matter how a sin makes one think of it as normal, it does not mean it is natural and will be allowed. Allah has not placed love and desire by fulfilling one’s self-desire this way. One will not think of such if one seeks correct direction and guidance from others and will find solace in Allah’s ordained way. He knows what is best for us and the ultimate fulfillment of desire, joy, and bliss in this world and Paradise. Just remain assured in His promise and be patient.
Think Positively, Like the Majority
Same-sex partnerships will not take place in Janna. These are just obtrusive thoughts you are having. This thought will not enter your mind there. The joys and bliss of every blessing will be much greater and fulfilling. Think of being with the residents of Paradise. One can hope and wish to be married to any of the residents of Janna, be it a prophet, companion, or righteous. You will be pleased and honored upon entry into Janna, and you will not feel any regret or any kind of negative emotion while in it, just pure joy and fulfillment of one’s desires.
Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “Allah said: ‘I have prepared for My righteous servants what no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human heart has conceived. Recite the verse if you wish: No soul can imagine what delights are kept in store for them as a reward for what they used to do.” [Quran, 37:17]
[Bukhari; Muslim]
Strongly Urge You, Seek Love The Normal Way
Turn to Allah Most High; He is the one who has ultimate control over you. Ask Him to give you, find you joy and fulfillment in what pleases Him, and please you as you want to be pleased. Allah is always there to listen and loves to be asked.
