Can I Have My Beloved Pet Cats in Paradise?
Answered by Ustadha Shazia Ahmad
Question
Can I ask Allah to give me my cats in Paradise? I heard animals can’t go to Paradise. Allah said in the Quran that we could have everything we desire there. Can I have their ghosts in the bodies of heavenly animals?
I want to make dua for my cats for the rest of my life. Does Allah change His rules if I make dua for it? It’s super important to me.
Answer
Thank you for your question.
May Allah reward you for placing all of your hope and trust in Allah. You should ask for what pleases you, and Allah loves to be asked.
Animals in Paradise
The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) has mentioned that some animals will be in Paradise. He has mentioned fowl and camels, and here is what he said about horses:
It was narrated from Sulayman ibn Burayda from his father that a man asked the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace), “O Messenger of Allah, will there be horses in Paradise?” He said, “If Allah admits you to Paradise, you will not wish that you could be carried on a horse of red rubies, which will fly wherever you want in Paradise, but that will happen.” And another man asked him, “O Messenger of Allah, will there be camels in Paradise?” but he did not say something like he had said to his companion. He said, “If Allah admits you to Paradise, you will have therein whatever your heart desires and will delight your eyes.” [Tirmidhi]
Spirits
Generally speaking, Muslims don’t believe that the spirits of this-worldly animals will enter into the animals of Paradise, but there is much about Paradise that we don’t know. I recommend you ask Allah to fulfill your need in the way He knows best and then submit and trust Him in what He gives you. Know that you will never be disappointed and that with Allah’s grace, you will know true bliss in Paradise and have whatever you wish.
I recommend this dua for you, transmitted by Abu Dawud by the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) for those who are in distress:
“.اللّهُـمَّ رَحْمَتَـكَ أَرْجو فلا تَكِلْني نَفْسي طَرْفة عَينٍ وأَصْلِحْ لي شَأْنِي كلَّهُ لا إِله إِلّا أَنْتَ”
“O Allah, I hope for Your mercy. Do not leave me to myself even for the blinking of an eye. Correct all of my affairs for me. There is none worthy of worship but You.”
