Is My Ghusl Valid despite Touching My Inner Lips?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi
Question
Does cleaning your labia minora with fingers while making ghusl invalidate the ghusl? How does one deal with waswasa with purity? (and other religious matters)
Answer
In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
I pray this finds you in the best of states.
Cleaning the Inner Lips
No, a woman cleaning her inner lips (labia minora) with her fingers while performing a ritual bat (ghusl) won’t invalidate her ghusl. [Shurunbulali, Nur al-Idah]
This ruling is because this action is not from those actions that would entail performing a ghusl. One only needs to perform a ghusl after an orgasm, penetration between two individuals, menstruation, or post-natal bleeding. [Ibid]
Inserting a finger inside one’s private parts does not entail performing a ghusl. [Tumurtashi, Tanwir al-Absar]
