Question
Is it permissible to prostrate outside of prayer, excluding the prostration of reciting, in order to make du’a?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
It is permissible to prostrate outside of the prayer for the sake of making du’a. [Tahtawi, Hashiya al-Tahtawi]
However, it is advised not to do so in such places which will confuse people.
Hope this helps
