Is It Permissible to Donate Hair for Charity?

Question: Is it permissible to donate hair to different charity programs like locks for love?
Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
I pray that you are in the best of health and faith, insha’Allah.
It is not permitted to donate hair, even if in aid of charitable initiatives.
The basis is that it is impermissible to use any part of the human body due to its inviolability as determined by explicit primary texts. The exception would be in the case of a life-threatening situation.
