Is a purificatory bath necessary for someone who has anal intercourse with another?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

• If a person uses a dildo, the purificatory bath (ghusl) will be necessitated for the recipient and not for the person using it.
• If a man has anal intercourse with another – which is a major sin -then a purificatory bath (ghusl) will be necessary on both, even without the emission of any sexual fluid. [‘Ala‘uddin Ibn ‘Abidin, Al-Hadiyyah al-‘Ala’iyyah]
