Question:

If I am a virgin and I had an orgasm as a result of foreplay with my husband, how should I perform a ritual bath? Is the ritual bath to be taken the same as it is taken after periods because the hymen is still intact and there was no penetration?

Answer:

In the name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful,
Assalam’aleykum,
I pray this finds you in the best of states.

Yes, the proper way to perform a ritual bath (ghusl) is not dependent on the event that has led us to enter into a state of major ritual impurity (janaba).

Only the external part of the vagina needs to be washed because it is akin to the mouth’s inside, which is included in the duty of washing thoroughly the body indicated by the verse:“If you are in a state of major impurity, cleanse yourselves well (by taking a bath)” [Qur’an, 5.6].

As for the internal part of the vagina, it does not need to be washed because it is akin to the throat, which is inside the body which is not something we need to wash during a ritual bath.

In addition to that, a woman should not and does not need to put her fingers in her vagina to perform a valid ritual bath. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

The external part of the vagina is defined as what can be seen from it when a woman is standing or sitting. As for the internal part, it can only be seen when a woman is reclining on something. [Ibn Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]

And Allah knows best.
Wassalam
