How Should the Wiping of Footgear Be Done?
Hanafi Fiqh

Question: Assalam alaykum
I read that to perform the wiping of khuff “It is Fard (Compulsory) to make masah on each sock to the extent of the full surface area of three fingers.”
What does this mean? Does that mean that the whole surface of 3 fingers has to touch the top of my foot?
Answer: Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,
The sunna is to wipe your footgear (khuff) from the toes until the shin area with a dripping wet hand. If you do this, you have nothing to worry about. There is no need to “press down” with your other hand as this is mere misgivings.
