How Many Toes Should Be Touching the Ground in Prostration (Sajda)?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel
Question
I have waswasa and doubts about the quality of my prayer and constantly wonder if my sujud is done correctly. When making sajdah, how many toes should be touching the floor?
Answer
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate.
I pray you are well.
The obligatory (fard) is to place the toes on the ground, even a toe of each foot. As for the emphasized sunna, it is to place the bottom of the toes on the ground such that they face the qibla. [Ibn ’Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar; ’Ala’uddin ‘Ibn ’Abidin, al-Hadiyyah al-’Ala’iyyah]
