Can a Woman Pray Ahead of a Man If She Is Praying Alone?

Question

My question is about the separation of prayer between Men and Women. I’m already aware that Men must pray ahead of Women during congregation prayers.
My question is more specific. Can Women pray ahead of Men in another room(while praying alone)?

My sister’s room is ahead of mine(when facing the Qibla), and she prays there while I pray in mine. We sometimes pray at the same time(not in congregation). Does this invalidate my prayers if we pray simultaneously while in these conditions?

What you mentioned in your question does not invalidate your prayer, as the below conditions are not met. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]

A woman praying ahead or next to a man who is praying only invalidates the prayer if the following conditions apply:

• Some part of the woman must be adjacent to some part of the man, or she is directly ahead of him.
• She must be of mature age
• There must not be any barrier between them
• It must last to the extent of one integral
• They must both be praying together in the same prayer.

That said, her prayer does not affect your prayer since you are not praying the same.

If she were to be praying individually and you individually, both of you standing next to each other, neither prayer is invalidated.  [Ibn ‘Abidin, Radd al-Muhtar]
