Are My Prayers Valid despite Praying Them Too Late?
Hanafi Fiqh
Answered by Ustadh Sufyan Qufi
Question
I sometimes end up being a minute or two late to prayers. Will my prayers be accepted?
Answer
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful
I pray this finds you in the best of states.
Yes, your prayers are valid despite praying them beyond their time. [Shurunbulali, Maraqi al-Falah]
Nonetheless, it remains essential for you to pray on time, as it is sinful to delay the prayers beyond their allocated times.
Allah, Most High, says: “Surely, prayer is an obligation on the believers that is tied up with time.” [Quran, 4:103]
The Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace upon him) said: “Whoever keeps on performing prayers in its due time, it will be a light, a proof, and redemption for him on the Day of Judgment.” [Ahmad]
And Allah knows best.
