Is using an artificial vagina for masturbation zina?

Answer: Wa alaykum al-Salam

Thank you for writing to us.

If what you are referring to is fully fledged zina that is punishable by one hundred lashes, as mentioned in the Quran, then no, masturbating with an artificial vagina is not equal to zina.

However, masturbation is prohibited in Islam and is usually associated with the viewing of pornography. You must make a firm resolution not to return to these sins as it may become an addiction, in which case, you will require professional help. Also, if your sexual desires are high and you are not able to control them, the remedy of our Sacred Law is Nikah or marriage. When marriage is not a possibility, the Messenger sallaLlahu alayhi wasallam advised young men to fast. Fasting, even though it may increase desires at first, when performed regularly, decreases sexual desires and urges.

May Allah protect us all from all actions and statements that are displeasing to Him. O Allah, protect us from sin and grant us complete chastity, Amin.
