Is grape seed oil haram in products as it is usually derived from the seeds of grapes that are pressed for use in winemaking?

Answer

Yes, grapeseed oil, in principle, is permissible to consume, as it is derived from pressing grapeseeds. Grapes are in of themselves permissible, and it’s only after fermentation that grape juice becomes alcoholic and, therefore, impermissible. (Quduri, Mukhtasar)

However, the production process used in our times entails pressing the seeds after the winemaking process has been concluded. This means there is a likelihood of contamination with the wine, so the oil should be avoided if one does not have certainty of it being produced in a way that doesn’t involve contact with the wine.
