Is Stand-up Comedy Permissible?
Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani
Question
Is stand-up comedy permissible in the Sharia?
Answer
In the name of Allah, Most Merciful.
It is in itself permitted to make people laugh.
It is blameworthy if done in blameworthy ways.
If done in wholesome ways, within the limits of permissible speech, and with good intentions, it can be praiseworthy.
Wassalam,
