Is There Any Hope For Paradise for Someone Who Touched a Sibling Inappropriately? – Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Answered by Mawlana Ilyas Patel

Question

My friend is addicted to porn. Gradually he started watching incest porn. He saw that for just pleasure and tried to stop watching. One night, he and his sister were living alone in the house. He improperly touched his sister with his private parts, although they were covered.  Now, he is very guilty and ashamed. Any hope for paradise for him? How does he move on to life?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate

I pray you are in good faith and health. Thank you for your question and for seeking guidance and direction.

Your friend’s guilt, shame, and regret are a huge step in repentance and forgiveness. Tell him to perform two rakats and sincerely repent to Allah and ask for forgiveness for the past and not to worry. See the link below. He is on the path to Paradise after doing so, in shaAllah.  The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin’” [Ibn Majah].

Hope

Allah says in the Quran, “Say: Oh my slaves who have transgressed against yourselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah, verily, Allah forgives all sins.” [Quran, 39:53]

“And those who, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins – Who forgives sins save Allah only? – and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did.” [Quran,3:135]

“Ask your Lord for forgiveness and then turn in repentance to Him.” [Quran,11: 3]

Do not despair – your desire to repent is already a sign of Allah’s love for you. The only human beings protected from sin are Prophets (Allah bless them and gives them peace). Everyone else on this planet struggles with some form of sin or another. For as long as one is alive, the doors of forgiveness are always to you. Ours is a religion of hope.

Look Ahead

The best thing now is to travel the path of light and knowledge and try to better oneself in every aspect. Learn about our beautiful religion, the halal and haram of everyday and basic fiqh. Read the Sirah and strive to fulfill the obligations to the One who created us, attending the congregational prayers, circles of knowledge, and remembrance. Don’t let the shaytan keep one busy in futile things.
