Is There Ruqya For Baldness?
Answered by Shaykh Abdul-Rahim Reasat
Question
Recently my hair is falling out. I wanted to shave but as it’s not allowed I can’t shave my head. Can you give me some ruqya for this?
In our country people do Tawba before death by saying one times Sura Fatiha and three times sura al Ikhlas. Is this authentic?
Answer
I pray you are well.
Unfortunately, I don’t know of any form of ruqya to prevent your hair loss. See it as a test from Allah, and take the means to prevent the hair loss.
Turn to Allah with du’a and beseech him to grant you wellbeing. It might be worth speaking to a doctor, or considering a well researched method for preventing hair loss. I’m sure there will be some shampoos available to prevent it. May Allah make it easy for you.
Repentance
Tawba is done by stopping a particular sin, feeling remorse for it, determining not to do it again, and returning the rights of others – if there are any. People usually turn to Allah with these conditions and beg for forgiveness. That is the way to perform tawba. (Nawawi, Riyad al Salihin)
It seems that what you described is the donating of rewards to someone, particularly the deceased. This is a valid and permissible act according to Ahl al Sunna. (Marghinani, al Hidaya)
May Allah grant you the best of both worlds.
