Can I Bless the Prophet (Allah Bless Him and Give Him Peace) Silently, or Must I Hear Myself Say It?

Question

I understand that any dua can be said aloud or in one’s heart. Does this apply to hearing the adhan & when hearing the Prophet’s name (Allah bless him and give him peace)? After I hear his name, can I say “Salla Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam” in my heart, or can I move my lips without sound, or must I hear myself saying it?

Angels

The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and give him peace) said, “A visitor came to me from my Lord Almighty, and he said: Whoever among your nation blesses you, Allah will record for him ten good deeds, He will erase ten bad deeds, He will raise him ten degrees, and the angel will respond with the same.” [Ahmad]

From what I have learned from my teachers, one must hear one’s own words for the angel (who writes one’s good deeds) to record and respond to the blessings. And when it is audible, there is a reward in it, in sha Allah.
