In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful and Compassionate
Allah Most High said, “When the Qur’an is recited, then listen to it and be quietly attentive, in order that you attain Mercy.” [Quran, 7:204]
Listening to a Quran with English Translation
The obligation of listening to the Quran attentively is when the Quran is recited in Arabic and is gathered for this purpose, or when one is sat without a purpose, and the Quran is being recited, then one should try to listen to it if it is recited.
However, if the translation of the Quran is being read out, then the ruling is not the same as the Arabic recitation. However, one is still required to show respect and attentiveness, primarily if one has gathered for this very purpose.
If a person wants to read the Quran aloud, he should not recite it aloud when people are engaged in other work. If everyone is reciting the Quran aloud, it is ok, as everyone is doing their recitation. [Shafi, Ma’rif al-Quran; Nahlawi, Al-Durar al-Mubaha]
No, you are not obligated to listen to the Quran if it comes on your feed. You have subscribed to a feed, so you are reminded to listen and read the Quran. However, this is your daily convenience and time that you may have set to read and listen.
